no blood no glitter no performance of any kind. no stage no tonite. The list is expansive and the carry is forever. This piece is lurking in afterglow of an LDR with a certain shuttered queer bar in San Francisco. It doesn’t kiss and tell. Welcome to the afters.
This piece was created for an installation/performance of the same name, as part of Sad Girl Summer, an evening of performances curated by Pau S. Pescador at Human Resources in Los Angeles. Co-hosted by Art Reality Studio and New Art City.
The crowd sounds sampled in this piece were recorded during the set-up for bodyheat, a queer party at f8 in San Francisco. This event was a fundraiser for Arm The Girls, an Oakland-based initiative run by We Are The Ones We’ve Been Waiting For mutual aid fund. They’ve distributed thousands of free self-defense kits to Black and Brown trans women in the Bay and in New York.

This performance was dedicated to The Stud, San Francisco’s oldest, continuously-operated queer bar, in the wake of it shuttering in 2020.
The Stud has since reopened at 1123 Folsom Street in SOMA. Go.
